5 ways to create a low maintenance garden
There
are times when health or work commitments mean you do not have time to take
care of your garden. Instead of wanting to live in an apartment or having the
money to hire a gardener, you can spend a little money and save time in the
long run. Here are five options to consider.
Create an Alpine rockery
It
may seem hard at first, but building a rock garden does not have to be a
difficult task. If you have a clear garden plot without trees or bushes
overhanging it would be ideal for a rock garden. After cleaning the lawn,
simply build it with old debris or bricks, placing the old lawn on the rubble
and adding some topsoil. In this, you only need to place nice stone blocks and
well located with an intermediate space for your alpine bushes. So, it's just a
matter of covering the bare ground with gravel or pebbles.
The
alpines are small, hardy shrubs that do not care much, so they will be ideal
plants for a low maintenance garden. Gravel and rocks provide little space for
weeds to take root, so they can be easily treated if they appear.
Build an elevated lawn
A
raised bed will always need maintenance, but it will make life a lot easier
without having to bend over until now. A big part of the gardening task is
having to crawl on your hands and knees to plant or grass. Having a raised bed
alleviates this. They are also perfect for wheelchair users and wheelchairs.
Install a patio
Getting
rid of the garden completely could be the perfect answer since patios do not
need to weed or water. A patio will give you a nice space to eat in sunny
weather, ideal if you like entertainment. If you want to plant, bathtubs of
different sizes and shapes allow you to have vegetation, which can be moved and
changed as needed.
Put artificial grass
You
can love a pretty lawn, but you just do not have time to cut it, water it and
weed it. Lawns should be careful to look good. A poorly maintained lawn will
look rundown, uneven or overgrown. One solution for this is to use an artificial
grass playground like Grono. Artificial grass is usually
less expensive than placing a playground, but still offers a great place for
kids to play.
Use an automatic watering system
If
you do not have time to stay at the top of your garden, you may want to
consider a good automatic irrigation system, such as sprinklers or drip lines.
They can be activated at certain times of the day, so that at least you do not
have to take the time to do it yourself. These systems are also ideal if you
are far away.
Gardening
does not need to be very well maintained; With a little planning, you can still
have a nice garden but with a lot less work.
